La S.C.A. Los Remedios-Picasat, in a work to promote alternative crops, we start in 2017 a project to implement a field of mother feet on the most recommended varieties of pistachio trees for our area: Larnaka and Avdat.
Since then, We carry out information sessions on some topics of special importance in the implementation of pistachio cultivation, How are their adaptability to the region?, its economic profitability and the field grafting technique.
seven years later, This initiative culminates with the market launch of the brand Nuts from the Three Sierras.
It is considered that the cultivation of pistachio can be a good alternative to mountain areas where the olive grove obtains lower profit margins.. Besides, It must be taken into account that the tasks required (harvest, pruning, etc.) they do not coincide in time with those of the olive grove, therefore allowing diversification.
Grafting in the field requires buds from mother feet intended exclusively for this purpose.. For this reason, in the Cooperative we have since 2017 with a plantation of mother plants destined only for the production of certified and guaranteed buds.
